Merry Christmas from Mama Zeus!

What does Christmas mean to you? I asked my mom this question and jokingly she said " Nne, it means rice and chicken ". As funny as that sounds, Christmas means rice and chicken to quite a lot of people ( you can't imagine) . To me, Christmas means...

A day I set aside to thank the creator of life for deeming me worthy of the sacrifice of His son. Like a rainbow, Christmas is the sign that strengthens my resolve to do my best to make His sacrifice worth it. Set so close to the end of each year, Christmas is that reminder that helps me evaluate how well or not so well I've spent the year.
Some might argue that Jesus wasn't even born today . I won't lie, if you give me enough evidence, I just might agree. On another end, I'd say the issue isn't the day or month he was born but the purpose of our celebration. I don't see anybody more worthy of celebrating. He came that we might have life.
So what if Iya Beji woke me up by 5 am to pray not caring that I slept by 2 am, what if she made sure to drop my spirit with her igbo gospel songs , vehemently refused my option of contemporary gospel  then nagged all morning ? The point still remains that I'm celebrating my messiah.
Finally, Merry Christmas to every body! May our lives continually manifest God's sacrifice.

HECKS :  Someone please tell Iya Beji that people are allowed to bathe early on Christmas day !

  1. Compliments of the Season MZ,

Usually every year we have a Christmas program in our church and at the event last year, we asked people this same question... "What does Christmas mean to you?" And as you can expect, we had so many hilarious, as well as interesting answers. The Christmas season is always a joyous one and this one was no exception, even with the hard forex policies and long fuel queues.

If you ask me, Christ should be celebrated everyday of the year, not just on one day, for many reasons, some of which you have highlighted. I'm not saying Santa Claus should be flying around on his sleigh all year, I'm referring to celebrating the very essence of His coming. He came to show us his amazing love. (John 15:13..."Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.") He came that we might have not just life, but everlasting life! John:3:16 clearly spells this out!

If you give me the time, I can actually convince you that he wasn't actually born December 25th and give you details on how the Roman Emperor Constantine created this day way back in 325AD. But that is a discussion for another day, for now, lets celebrate the season!
